Determination of Binary Vapor Liquid Equilibria (vle) of Reactive Systems

چکیده
The simulation of reactive distillation processes requires binary phase equilibrium data and information about the reaction kinetics and equilibrium. The phase equilibrium data for the binary reacting sub-systems are difficult to measure experimentally since the products of reaction affect the binary equilibrium as soon as they are formed. A novel apparatus has been constructed to measure these data for reaction rates with half-life time of 30 minutes and below. Experimental data are presented for compounds of ethanol and isopropanol with formic acid at 40 – 60°C as a model reaction for reactive distillation. The synthesis of ethyl formate is realized at these temperatures in technical columns. The proposed method can be applied to obtain binary interaction parameters of reactive compounds for commonly used gmodels, if the half-life time of the non-catalyzed reaction at the desired temperature is above 10 minutes.

متن کاملVLE Properties from ISM Equation of State: Application to Pure and Mixture
In this paper, the vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) properties of polar and nonpolar fluids are modeled by the use of a statistically-based equation of state (EOS). The equation of state used in this work is that of Ihm-Song-Mason (ISM) EOS. An alternative approach is to revise the isothermal integration on liquid. In this respect, a temperature-dependent revision factor b (T) is introduced to th...

The prediction method of the isobaric vapor-liquid-liquid equilibria (VLLE) data for the system ethanol-water-1-butanol and ethanol-2-butanol-water was studied. The parameters for the activity coefficients models were determined from the constituent binary VLE data. With the parameters, the isobaric ternary VLLE data were predicted and compared with the experimental ones obtained in our previou...

In this study using Equation of State/ Helmholtz excess energy function, EOS/AE, two new local composition-Equation-of State mixing rules, LCEOS1 and LCEOS2 were developed in which the energy interaction parameters were expressed in terms of attractive and repulsive parameters of the cubic equation of state. The EOS/AE models are applied for equilibrium calculation of nat...
